Norbert Bargen has been appointed human resources director for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (CCMBC). The human resources director ensures staff are well cared for as they serve CCMBC’s mission of reaching Canada for Christ.

Based out of the Winnipeg office, Bargen will work as part of the senior leadership team to guide and manage provision of human resources services to the staff of the national office to ensure recruitment and development of a productive, motivated workforce.

Bargen is known in the MB constituency for his service as principal at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, Winnipeg, (2000–2012); teacher at Mennonite Educational Institute, Abbotsford, B.C., (1991–2000); athletic director at Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C., (1986–1991); and director at Camp Evergreen, Sundre, Alta. (1981–1986).

“This is a new position in the conference,” says CCMBC executive director Willy Reimer, “and we’re grateful that God has led us to the right person for this role. After serving the MB community for many years in the education field, Norbert brings a keen awareness of our constituency, along with gifts of administration and compassion. With a real heart for people, Norbert will be a valuable addition to the team. We look forward to seeing how God will work through Norbert and all our CCMBC staff, as we seek to reach Canada with the good news of Jesus.”

Bargen commenced duties with CCMBC on Nov. 19.

A member at Eastview Community (MB) Church, Winnipeg, Bargen and his wife Elly have three married adult children, and five grandchildren with a sixth on the way.
