amandabartel_mug for HC news releaseAmanda Bartel is this year’s recipient of the Mennonite Brethren Historical Commission archival internship. The selection committee chose Amanda from a strong field of candidates from universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada.

Bartel will spend one week at each of the four MB archive centres (Hillsboro, Kan.; Fresno, Cal.; Abbotsford, B.C.; and Winnipeg) during May and June 2013. In addition to experiencing a functioning archive, Bartel will gather stories and images that promote the mission of church archives.

“We are very pleased to award Amanda the archival internship,” says Historical Commission chair Don Isaac. “We hope this will be a rich experience for her, and provide insights for the Commission as we document and communicate the story of God’s work in our lives.”

Amanda is a student at Bluffton (Ohio) University, a school affiliated with Mennonite Church USA.

The internship is made possible in part by support from the Katie Funk Wiebe fund. For more information, go to www.mbhistory.org.
