ST. CATHARINES, Ont.

Friendly chatter filled the gymnasium of Scott Street MB Church, St. Catharines, Ont., where more than 80 people gathered to celebrate Family Life Network’s (FLN) 65th birthday. Representatives of FLN’s programming spoke of their ministries and what God is doing in their corner of the world, and videos highlighted FLN’s media that conveys the message of transformation in English, German, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, and Ukrainian.

More than a birthday

The evening celebrations held special significance to Jake and Marg Janzen of Cornerstone Community (MB) Church, Virgil, Ont. The Janzens are two of the founders of the indigenous-based outreach organization Vision Thailand, which
officially announced a partnership with Family Life Network that evening.

Thai will become the seventh language for FLN’s ministry in April 2013.

For four-and-a-half-year-old Vision Thailand, “partnering with an established and respected ministry like Family Life Network provides valuable infrastructure, resources, and stature,” says Janzen. “Thai people are media-driven; Vision Thailand has tremendous opportunities to reach them for Christ through radio and television. Partnering with Family Life Network enables us to follow these opportunities to the fullest.”

“Sixty-five years is not too old to start something new,” said FLN executive director Claude Pratte as he introduced the Thai video and expressed his pleasure in partnering with Vision Thailand. The partners are excited about using radio, internet, and television to reach the isolated corners of the world with God’s love.

The only blip in the celebration evening was an unexpected surge in last-minute guests that caused a scramble for additional tables.

“This is a great problem: more people than we expected!” said Pratte.
