Saving the Seasons: How to Can, Freeze, or Dry Almost Anything
Mary Clemens Meyer and Susanna Meyer

Herald Press, 2010
288 pages

Not that long ago, many people knew how to preserve food. Knowledge was passed down from generation to generation. But that’s not the case today; say Susanna Meyer and Mary Clemens Meyer, co-authors of Saving the Seasons. “Many younger people today want to preserve food, but don’t know how to do it,” says Susanna. The mother-daughter team who are both involved with Community Supported Agriculture, intend to remedy that with this book, which teaches how to can; make pickles, relishes, jams and jellies; freeze or dry meats, fruits, herbs, and vegetables. The book grows out of their faith as Christians who participate in God’s creation, and addresses the current desire for many young people to know where their food comes from.
