Church recognizes pastor’s quarter-century of service

Black Creek (B.C.) MB Church held a special evening of celebration Nov. 25 for lead pastor Barry Falk and his wife Sandy, who have served the congregation for 25 years. To honour him, the congregation held a family Nacho Night – a casual time of enjoying table games, food, and fellowship at the church building.

Associate pastor Peter Jackson organized a brief program to recognize Falk’s tenure with words of encouragement from Paul Hansen of neighbouring River Heights Church, Courtenay, B.C.; John Falk, father and long-term member; and moderator James Klassen. Members attached written words of encouragement and gifts for Barry and Sandy to a “blessing tree.”

Falk also served as director of Campfire Ministries, from its beginnings as summer day camp outreach in the mid-1990s till the board engaged a full-time director for the camp ministry on Roberts Lake in fall 2009.

“We are very blessed to have a pastor who has been faithful through many seasons of change in our fellowship and he continues to share his heart and gifts with us,” says Klassen. Falk shepherded a generation to maturity: newborns recently added to the flock were born to parents who were themselves young children when Falk began his ministry.

“We as a congregation continue to be blessed by Barry’s musical gifts and passion to lead worship, as well as write and direct Christmas musicals,” Klassen said at the event. “Sandy has also been a blessing to many as she shares her loving gifts of hospitality and caring with anyone in need.”
