Visual arts contest: #1 “Hands”
What is Gospel?
We asked readers to send us their best visual interpretation of “gospel.” Here is the top entry.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations (Matthew 24:14).
Jaimee Schmidt of Richmond Park MB Church, Brandon, Man., met Elisha while volunteering on an Engineering Ministries International project. “When Elisha came to Eagles Wings Children’s Village (orphanage) in Uganda,” writes Jaimee, “he was knocking on death’s door. I was continuously amazed and inspired by his resilience and ability to find joy in life. He loved to hold my hand. The day before I left, looking down at his little hand clutching mine, I was reminded of the gospel by the love and diversity I experienced through his presence in my life.”

Jaimee Schmidt (centre) has plenty of scope for her camera. The hobby photographer regularly travels to developing countries to use her skills in sanitation design on Engineering Ministries International projects. Among her favourite subjects are the children she meets, like Godfrey (cover) from Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.
