Donna Stewart of Killarney Park MB Church “never misses an opportunity to speak publicly in favour of inclusive, affordable, and livable neighbourhoods,” BC Community Achievement awards declared. Vancouver’s mayor has been quoted saying “she keeps the City Council aware of all of these goals.”
Along with 47 British Columbians representing 32 communities around the province, Stewart was recognized in a formal presentation at Government House in Victoria on Apr. 28, 2010. In June, she was awarded Woman of Distinction for community building by the Vancouver YWCA for her work as a founding member of A Place To Call Home Housing Society. “Christians should work outside the church as well as in it,” says the church worker and community activist.
