In need of a hug As our large group was pulling tables together in a crowded restaurant after church one Sunday, a woman sitting alone nearby picked up her coffee and muffin and offered to relocate to make room for us. Instead, I invited her to join us. Stunned by my invitation, she hesitated, then accepted. Introducing ourselves, we slid her table next to ours, and one of my friends embraced the newcomer who exclaimed, “I’m just a human being in need of a hug.” In response, I also put my arms around her, and she whispered in my ear, “This morning, I prayed that God would allow me to be part of a group even for just a little while.”
